A Virtual Discussion: Creating Space, Transforming Schools: The Role of Af-Lat-Am in 21st Century Education

Wednesday, November 1, 2023

7:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Our event will begin with a panel of female-identifying Af-Lat-Am educators who will discuss their work, challenges, and successes in this new millennium. We will then welcome educators from all gender identities into the discussion. Please join us!

Panelists include:

Carolyn Chica ’08 - Associate Director of Admission and Director of Inclusion Outreach for Groton School (MA)

Elisa Istueta ’89 - Executive Director, Directions for Our Youth (NY)

Jasmine M. Mitchell ’99 - Associate Professor of Puerto Rican and Latino Studies at Brooklyn College (NY)

This discussion will range from elementary to secondary to post-secondary spaces, as well as to out-of-school time. Panelists will share how their work creates opportunity for students from the Af-Lat-Am diaspora and, indeed, for all students. We look forward to welcoming you into the conversation!
